Wait. Where in Spain will you be?

Guess what?
I know where I'm placed! (confetti!) Actually, I've known for a couple of weeks now, and I'm just proving myself to be a challenged blogger, as always. BUT...(drum roll....) I'm placed in a small town of 7,400 people 8 miles outside of Seville, Spain called Valencia de la Concepción. And I'll be teaching 12-16 year olds, or their equivalent of high school. I'm quite excited.
High school was actually my lowest preference, but obviously God has other plans to grow me through what I didn't know to ask for. I'm eager to see how much I learn as I teach. The location, though, looks to be rather ideal. Seville is wonderful, and I can live there with my college roomie, Katie Ormsbee, and just have a short commute to school. Katie will be teaching adults in a small city north of Seville.

My town is famous for two dolmens, or neolithic age, above ground tombs. They also have a festival the second Sunday of October, the Romería de Torrijos, that's of national interest for Spain. I hope to attend!

I've also begun my course to be certified in teaching English as a foreign language. The material is fascinating, and it's really been fun to be studying education for a change. It is an online course, though, and there's really no way to replicate discussion on the internet. So that's been a humorous experience at times. Meanwhile, I've been eating up the time with family and friends in this wondrous Alabama summer. Lake trips, blueberries, blackberries, and glass bottled Coca-Cola complete the experience. So there. You're finally updated. :D
